Our take...

The City of Richmond had a new accessible playground structure at Kathleen McNeely Elementary School built in early 2015. Much of the funding for this project was raised by a mother of a child with disabilities from the community, as well as several other donors, and the City of Richmond. The colourful playground has many accessible features, including a ramp to the elevated platforms and walkways. There are also several tactile, sensory, and musical features throughout the playground. Another unique feature is the surface surrounding the playground, which is a recycled rubber material. This playground will allow children with disabilities to play with their siblings and friends with or without disabilities in a more inclusive way.
