Our take...

McDonald Beach Park is located on the north side of Sea Island at the end of McDonald Rd., and is a popular year round boat launch, and off leash dog park. This park is approximately 9 km from the Richmond end of the Arthur Lange Bridge to reach the park. Turn right on Templeton Rd. the roadway runs north, then turns to run parallel to the Airports North Runway, and affords excellent airplane photo, and viewing opportunities. Part way along the roadway turn right again at McDonald Rd. Tug, and recreational boats can be seen going up and down the river. There are picnic tables and park benches near the boat launch, and sandy beaches beside the Fraser River are a short walk across the grassy park.

If you continue along the road beside the Airport Runway about 6 km you will reach Iona Beach Regional Park. View our assessment of Iona Beach Park.
