Our take...

The Holiday Inn Express on Bridgeport Road is an exceptionally accessible hotel with a knowledgeable staff that is keen to meet the needs of all of their guests. Handicap parking is clearly marked and easily found on the North and South sides of the main entrance. There is an additional parking spot in the underground parking lot with wheelchair access to the main lobby. The main entrance has automatic power doors that provide ample room for a person in a wheelchair to maneuver through. Once inside, the lobby area is wide open with an easy wheeling surface. Signage is exceptionally accommodating for persons who are visually challenged. Signage is in tactile, symbol, letter and brail form and is easily read due to larger font size and strong colour contrast. There are male and female accessible washrooms on the main floor, as well as other accessible accommodations like Closed Captioning television in the dining area, a lowered microwave, a barrier free business centre with raised tables, and a lowered reception desk for guests in wheelchairs. The rooms are accessible by elevator with lit buttons, brail and visual and audible floor announcements. Hallways are very spacious and signage is marked in tactile and brail format. Accessible rooms are spacious and have beds that are wheelchair height - making transfers easy. Extremely spacious washrooms are equipped with removable shower benches, detachable showerheads and grab bars. Toilets are raised and have grab handles and bars. The sinks inside have wheelchair clearance, levered handles, lowered mirrors and a one hand operable lock. Rooms are equipped with Closed Captioning television sets, large numbered phones with volume control, lowered peepholes and closet rods and alert kits that notify guests of the door, phone or fire. TTY phones are available by request, as are larger shower benches. The Holiday Inn Express on Bridgeport Road is very accommodating for persons with or without disabilities. It is conveniently located minutes from the airport and right across the street from Costco shopping centre.
